Need an excuse to ring in the New Year with strawberries and a glass of sparkling wine? Scientists from Spain, Serbia and Italy may have just given you the ticket. The research team found that eating strawberries reduces alcohol's damage to the stomach's mucous membranes. They say antioxidants and anthocyans in strawberries offer great protection to damaged membranes. Strawberries seem to activate the stomach's defenses. They also say strawberries can combat stomach damage from viral infections or certain medications - and may even help prevent gastric illnesses and slow the formation of ulcers. So raise a glass to good food and helping make people healthier!
Summer Employment
Summer employment will be right around the corner. We accept employment applications during the month of March. You may email, mail, or call us to ask for an application. However, we insist that the "applicant" contact us themselves - not a parent.
The minimum age requirement for employment is 12 years old. The application can be completed and returned during the month of March. We prefer that you return the application in person so we can meet you. Please contact us ahead to make sure we will be home when you return it.
Last year's employees will be contacted during the month of March to see who would like to return to work during the picking season. They have the first opportunity for employment. We will review all new applications the beginning of April and make contacts then for new hires. A letter will be sent out mid April to let you know if you have not been chosen.
The strawberry season is unpredictable as to when it begins and ends. Normally the season starts mid June and lasts for about two weeks. Our pre-pickers work from 7a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on a daily basis including weekends, as weather permits. Thank you for your interest in working at Prellwitz Produce!
